Dear Students and Their Grown-Ups:
Hello! 2020-2021 is my 5th year in the district. I live in the district on a small farm with sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, and cats. It's more like a zoo! I have three children. The oldest son is a security specialist for the military. My daughter attends Penn State Altoona campus, studying animal science and veterinary medicine. My youngest son is a junior here at Southern.
I am looking forward to seeing students again! Please refer to the parent letter, attached to this page, for details. Please look at my supply list page to see what you should bring to class. In my syllabus, I will outline my grading system and detail the three main areas of study in 7th grade English: Writing, Grammar, and Vocabulary. English Plus ( I like to call it English PowerUp) is for taking Grammar, Vocabulary, and Writing to the next level!
Always feel comfortable contacting me, either by phone or by email. I believe that parent involvement is the number one indicator of student success. This includes ensuring that your child is safe, well-rested, well-nourished, and well-hydrated. These are the students who tend to reach their highest potential. If I can be of any help at all, please contact me.

Find a paper or an old magazine. Find as many words as you can with "tact" or "tang" somewhere in the word. See if you can figure out the meaning of the word based on context clues. Bring your word or words to class long with the guessed meaning. I will see you soon!
