Meet the Teacher
Hello! I am the 7th grade math teacher at Southern Huntingdon County High School/Middle School. As an alumni of Southern Huntingdon, I spent the first part of my life as a unit manager and production supervisor before changing to a career in education. I earned my Bachelor's from Juniata College as well as a Masters in Special Education from Shippensburg University. Early in my new career, I substituted frequently at both Southern Huntingdon and Mount Union School Districts before obtaining my first teaching job at Forbes Road. After five years at Forbes, I was hired here at Southern in 2014. I taught and co-taught various subjects in math including Pre-Algebra-8, Algebra 1A & 1B, Algebra Concepts, Algebra Readiness, and Intro to Algebra. In November 2019, I transferred to my current 7th grade position. My current classes include Accelerated Math-7, four classes of Math Course 2 (Math-7), and a Math-7 mini-course that focuses on the Geometry and Statistics/Probability modules.
In addition to my regular education duties, I am the head coach of the boys varsity basketball program and the junior high softball coach. After spending numerous years coaching the elementary boys program, I was given the opportunity to coach jr high for one year. After the jr high season was over, I had to resign so I could transition toward my employment at Forbes Road. At Forbes, I coached the girls varsity program for two years before returning to Southern as the jr high boys coach once again. At the end of that school year, I was hired to coach the varsity boys basketball team. The 2020-2021 season will be my sixth year as the head coach. For softball, I was the junior high softball coach for the past three years after volunteering two years prior as an assistant coach. The 2021 season will be my sixth year overall with the softball program.
