Mr. Joel Snyder
DURING THE SCHOOL CLOSURE DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS, I WILL BE UTILIZING A GOOGLE CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT. MOST OF MY STUDENTS HAVE ALREADY ACCEPTED THE INVITATION. IT IS IMPORTANT TO SUBMIT YOUR ASSIGNMENTS THROUGH THE METHOD OUTLINED IN CLASSROOM. ALTHOUGH I WILL BE CHECKING EMAILS AND MESSAGES THROUGHOUT THE DAY, I WILL HOLD OFFICE HOURS FROM 9:00 A.M. UNTIL 11:00 A.M. MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
I am a 1989 graduate of SHC. I graduated from Juniata College in 1993 with a B.S. in Secondary Education/Mathematics. After working as a substitute teacher during the 1993 - 94 school year, I worked for the next few years as a Pharmacy Technician in both the retail and hospital settings. I even had the opportunity to work on a dairy farm in St. Thomas.
My first full-time teaching position came during the 1997 - 98 school year at Northumberland County High School in Virginia. The following year I began my teaching career at SHC. After four years, I left SHC to teach at Southern Fulton High School, only to return to SHC two and a half years later.
My wife Lori and I are the proud parents of a blended family that has five sons (Derrick, Luke, Zack, Todd, and Isaiah), one daughter (Elizabeth), and one daughter-in-law (Ahna). We are also blessed with two grandchildren (Gabby and Jacob). When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also serve as the pastor of the Valley Point Church of the Brethren in Blacklog Valley.
My course load this school year includes Calculus, Advanced Mathematics I, Advanced Mathematics II, and Geometry - Honors. Tutoring will be available upon request.
